Description
Wollaton Hall
Original Painting | Acrylic on Canvas | 61 x 91.4 cm | Ready to Hang
This painting captures the grandeur of Wollaton Hall, framed by the sweeping parkland and trees of its vast estate.
Just three miles west of Nottingham city centre, the Elizabethan mansion rises in stately form, its stonework catching the light against an open summer sky.
The hall is surrounded by 500 acres of gardens and parkland, a setting that reflects its long history and enduring presence.
Wollaton Hall also entered modern culture as Wayne Manor in the 2012 Batman film The Dark Knight Rises, giving this historic building a place in both heritage and cinema.
Since Wollaton Hall opened to the public in 1926, it has been home to the city’s natural history museum. On display are some of the items from nearly a million specimens that make up its zoological, geological, and botanical collections.
These are housed in six main galleries:
-
- Natural Connections Gallery
-
- Bird Gallery
-
- Insect Gallery
-
- Mineral Gallery
-
- Africa Gallery
-
- Natural History Matters Gallery
